AZBOX Premium HD Receiver

AZBOX Premium HD Receiver The AZBOX was a loaner from the company Gensh. Thank you for that. There the AZBOX Premium HD is currently available for 348.90 € are acquired or in the somewhat slimmed AZBOX Elite HD version for 298 €. The Elite version is slightly smaller, has a different remote control and has no wireless and no hard disk installation option. The functions and the software is the same.
Since the two devices with Azbox run Linux, so probably not exactly the average user to be addressed. The receivers have only been a short time on the market and therefore in the current software is not yet all promised features are available, eg Web interface, Internet radio and e-mail do not work yet. In the coming weeks, the first tuner to come on the market to the receiver to request a combo or twin tuner receivers can do. Azbox provides for relatively little money, very well equipped and has the manufacturer does with a great potential for the future. Although I myself might prefer “simple” and “stable” receivers that are still well equipped, but without all the network stuff. But “Linux fans” is just the most important.
On the front side there is a 11-digit alphanumeric display, 9 keys for operation and behind the front flap of the first USB port, and two CI and one card reader. The back offers everything your heart desires: power, Ethernet, USB for external hard drives, HDMI, component output (YUV), 0 / 12 V, digital audio (optical), video / audio in RCA, 1x SCART, Modulator and Antenna Input with loop-through. Well and rarely an external power supply.
The housing, the Premium version tested here is 340x243x66 mm. The remote is relatively large, with every key stroke it’s a quiet clicking noise, it also illuminates the red standby button. Code by entering the TV set can also be operated using the remote control Azbox. The key layout is not particularly comfortable. The responsiveness is good, but the receiver needs a certain amount of time responding to it, especially when turned on timeshift. This is often quite annoying, but probably lies in the software and will hopefully improve. The boot time is about 7 seconds from standby power and separation are almost 1 minute. Video resolutions from 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p are supported. The graphical interface is bad for black and was not really my thing. The fonts are small, with my 26 ” Sony TV, but clearly. Only my snapshot tools were not really so rightly, so excuse the quality of the screenshots. Whether it was up to the font size, or because with no scart RGB comes out, I do not know. The fonts are soon to be customizable.
The receiver is normally supplied without a channel list and starts with the setup menu. There one starts best with a software update. As delivered by the software factory, makes no sense.
